how to measure

three checks. two minutes.

measure one page

Take out an original page and measure height × width in millimetres. Ignore the cover — it is always bigger than the paper.

count the rings

Most organisers have 6 rings. Agende has 4, Franklin has 7, Japanese A5 binders have 20. Different ring count means a different punch, not a different BUSEE size.

check the spacing

Measure from the centre of one ring to the next. A5 is 19–19–70–19–19 mm; Personal 19–19–51–19–19; A6 19–19–38–19–19; Pocket an even 19 mm.

questions

sizes, answered.

What is the most common planner size?

In Europe, A5 (148 × 210 mm) and Personal (95 × 171 mm) are the most common ring-organiser sizes. Pocket (81 × 120 mm) is the classic small size.

What is the difference between A5 and Personal?

A5 pages are 148 × 210 mm; Personal pages are 95 × 171 mm — about half the writing area. They also use different punch patterns.

What is the difference between Personal and Personal Wide?

Same height (171 mm) and the same ring pattern; Personal Wide pages are 121 mm wide instead of 95 mm.

Is A6 the same as Pocket?

No. A6 is 105 × 148 mm; Pocket is smaller at 81 × 120 mm, with an even 19 mm hole spacing.

How do I measure my planner?

Take out one page and measure its height and width in millimetres. Don’t measure the cover — covers are always larger than the pages.
